About the Artist

Freddie Stevens is a designer and photographer, living in Dublin. He founded design studio Brennan & Stevens with his wife, Clare Brennan. Brennan & Stevens has grown over the last 6 years to become one of Ireland’s leading branding agencies that specialises in hospitality design. Practicing full time as a designer he has retained a select few photography clients, including Science Gallery Dublin / International and Trinity College, Dublin.

Using medium and large format film cameras, Freddie is currently working on a project that is exploring Ireland’s connection with palm trees. Often overlooked, these hardy plants blend into the Irish landscape and are often found in unlikely places. Symbolically, palm trees have a lot of meanings, Freddie’s photographs explores Ireland’s connection to this subject. However, the work is also a reflection of his own journey. In November 2019 two weeks before Clare and Freddie’s wedding, Clare was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer. Freddie’s current project is about optimism, ups and downs trust and reframing uncertainty.
