About the Artist

Ineta Bucaite’s journey of creating artworks using dried and pressed plants began more than 25 years ago. In the early 90’s being a single mother of three she was looking for raising an additional income for her family. That is when the advert on an opening for making cards caught her attention. The job involved making cards with pressed plants following particular order and rules. Ineta found the techniques very much interesting and relaxing at the same time however felt disengaged, as there were limitations on how the plants were to be used.

Deeply inside she began to see plants from an entirely different perspective where the plants portray a whole new meaning. She did not lose her interest in plants even after her time at that job but instead took it as her hobby, which was bound by no limitations. She started to see plants in the same way as how a painter sees colours. This led to the creation of a bond with the plants and let the plants itself to convey the message in all her artworks rather than using them as a material in her ideas.
