About the Artist

Terence Wright studied Fine Art at Chelsea School of Art, Cultural Anthropology at Oxford University and gained his PhD at University College London. His current work is concerned with human modification of the natural world, scientific illustration and the presentation of specimens as idealised images. This has been influenced by a re-view of nineteenth century French Symbolism.

His work has been exhibited at The Arnolfini Gallery, Bristol; Belfast Exposed; Novosibirsk State Art Museum, Russia. Recent exhibitions include The Home Front, Place Gallery, Belfast; University of Texas and the Minneapolis Convention Center 2017; In Arcadia: the British in France, Hammer Theater, San Jose, California 2019 and Modelling the Animal, Crossley Gallery, Dean Clough, Halifax, UK 2020. He has more than 40 years’ experience as an artist/photographer, educator and writer. He is Emeritus Professor of Visual Arts at Ulster University.
