How do I tend to a Garden that is not Mine? is a series of images depicting caring to a rented garden. A cascade of branch offcuts emerge from crumbling walls, overgrown greenery swallows an abandoned tent structure, a layer of plastic obscures a rusted steel roof, an Echium in bloom aligns with the house. These images form a composition of effort: nature and man in a battle for hegemony.
These single edition prints were exhibited as part of the group exhibition Daisy, Daisy at the Complex Gallery, 2024.
Josie Sanne is a Dublin-based visual artist and graduate of Fine Art and Visual Culture at NCAD, 2023. Sanne’s practice revolves around the connection between objects and spaces, the effort of care, and personal experiences of the Housing Crisis. She works with textiles, photography and writing to explore rootedness and transience.
Recent group exhibitions include: 21 Bridges to the Sea, Clancy Quay Studios, Dublin (2024); Daisy Daisy, The Complex Gallery, Dublin (2024). Sanne is kindly supported by the Agility Award 2024, Arts Council of Ireland Funding.
