CUR SÍOS

Tolka is a Dublin-based biannual literary journal of non-fiction, publishing essays, reportage, travel writing, auto-fiction, individual stories and the writing that falls in between. They publish and promote work that is formally promiscuous and which does not fall into fixed categories. They have published writers such as Brian Dillon, Mark O’Connell, Claire-Louise Bennett, Eimear McBride, Max Porter, Niamh Campbell and Nidhi Zak/Aria Eipe.

Inspired by the innovation and capaciousness of recent Irish literature, Tolka is a space for writers to test the creative limits of non-fiction. Tolka prioritises a proactive approach to diversity and inclusivity as a means to redress structural inequalities and imbalances of cultural representation. As such, they promote work by writers who are underrepresented in the arts, due to their socio-economic background, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, family status, age or disability.

Featured in this issue: Eimear Arthur, Noreen Masud, Declan Toohey, Ralf Webb, Elizabeth Brennan, Anna Savchenko, Rachel Genn, Georgia Wall, Megan Nolan, Hanne Ørstavik, trans. by Martin Aitken and Pete Kowalczyk.
