Hush
2024
Monotype
64 x 47 cm Framed
Edition of 1
€284
 Framed (includes 13.5% VAT)

Original one-off monotype, Hush, is a text-based exploration in repetition and endurance.  If the piece is studied closely the viewer will see ‘therethere,’ amongst the repetition of hush.  When blended together ‘hush’ becomes ‘shush’ simultaneously.  In the piece the artist is examining the language we often used to comfort but how, when insistent, these words can also be a way to enforce silence.

About the Artist

Nikki Foster is an artist living and working as a mother and educator in Dublin. Originally from Bournemouth in the UK, she studied her BA in Painting at Camberwell College of Arts and her Masters in Arts Policy at Birkbeck University, London.

Her work intends to explore how we connect on a human level, our willingness to show weakness or vulnerability and ways in which we use and interpret language. She works predominantly with painting, printmaking and text.

This year she has engaged with the Critical Correspondence Course run by the RHA School and she is now enrolled on the Turps Correspondence Course. Nikki teaches Painting to adults and Comic Book making to young people in South Dublin.
