Pocket Money is a publication by Cóilín O’Connell in collaboration with Isadora Epstein which features illustrations of forged coins and collaged currency minted by the participants of a community workshop at Muine Bheag Arts in 2023. Told from the point of view of a keen coin collector, Pocket Money explores numismatics (the study of coins) and its perils, showing that it really depends upon which side of the coin you are looking at.
Cóilín O’Connell is an artist from Dublin working in drawing, video, publishing, and installation. As Brass Neck Press he produces artists' publications and zines. His work explores ideas of ownership, with a particular interest in media and material cultures and the roles they play in reflecting and shaping these notions.
Isadora Epstein makes performances from her research of art history and mythology. Living and working in Dublin, Epstein has had recent performances at IMMA, the Douglas Hyde Gallery, MOLI and for Cork Midsummer Festival. She has upcoming performances for Ormston House and the Hugh Lane Gallery.
Muine Bheag Arts is an artist-run organisation based in County Carlow. We support artists to research, develop and realise projects outside of the city context. Our programme includes exhibitions, workshops, events, residencies, publishing and radio broadcasts.
Muine Bheag Arts engages with the local context to present projects in the public realm. Our approach is collaborative, welcoming and experimental and aims to foster dialogue between artists, audiences, community and place.
