MAD Magazine pointed out in its March 1961 issue, that 1961 was the first upside-up" year since 1881 until 6009 in which the numbers look the same when rotated upside down.
1961D is a small palm-size book. Edited like a montage with found images that speak of travel, photography, books, films, furniture and Goa --all of which intersect with the life of a friend who was born in 1961. This book was conceived as a gift on her fiftieth birthday. 1961 is an ‘upside up’ year, which when turned upside down remains the same.
