About the Artist

Colleen Eilís Murphy, a fine art graduate from DIT and an emerging artist based in Dundalk, Co. Louth, Ireland, delves into the intricate layers of human existence through her art. She uses bright, bold, and playful colours to challenge viewers to look beyond the surface and uncover the deeper stories, meanings, and histories that her works encapsulate. Her artistic practice centres around printmaking, with drawing as a foundational element, and she also explores painting and illustration.

Murphy is particularly fascinated by the technique of layering, both through imagery and colour in her screen printing and collage-making. Her work often draws inspiration from mythology, offering contemporary spins on traditional stories such as the narrative of Adam and Eve. Through her art, she seeks to initiate a dialogue that spans time, encouraging viewers to reimagine and discuss well-known stories from fresh perspectives.

Murphy is an active member of the Creative Spark Print Studio and has recently exhibited her work in group shows at An Táin, Hen's teeth, and Mo Chara. Additionally, her artwork has been featured in the first issue of 2024 Good Day Cork.
