Broken English Goodbye brings together ES Kibele Yarman's illustrations and poems on departure and detachment, produced between the years 2015-2020. 'Broken English Goodbye is an assemblage made up of 20 fragments of a vessel that fell and broke like an amphora. By shifting the scale and the coordinates of both type and imagery, Broken English Goodbye questions the origin of the fragments and their relationship to their whole, what came before the breakage and which alien pieces came afterwards. It sings its verses like pop songs with many choir parts, with some repetition, some verbal and visual continuous montage. This book is a goodbye to many faces and places, including my twenties and is written in broken English.'
