Kevin became interested in photography as a child, his grandfather was a reconnaissance photographer in the R.A.F during WW2 and he would sit for hours going through shoe boxes of old pictures.
In his early twenties, the early 1980’s, Kevin took a job as an assistant/apprentice photographer in a London studio, he learnt how to make tea, load endless film plates for the huge 10”x8” Deardorff cameras and eventually how to take a half decent photograph.
After a few years it was time to branch out on his own, he put together a small portfolio of photos and was lucky enough to start working for the Sunday Times magazine and other glossy publications. This sparked his interest in Documentary Photography, a style of photography that provides a straightforward and accurate representation of people, places, objects and events.
During the late 1980’s to fund his personal photo projects he started working in Advertising and has photographed press and poster campaigns for many of the world’s leading brands including Guinness, Coca-Cola, Nike, The National Lottery, Heineken, Carlsberg and Coors Beer.
Kevin re-located with his family to Clifden in 1997 and published his first book “Omey Island Last Man Standing” in 2013.
