Savannah Dodd, PhD, is a photographer and anthropologist. Originally from St. Louis, she is now based on the Ards Peninsula in County Down. Previously, Savannah’s photographic work focused on digital photograph of global health issues. Since 2020, she has transitioned to a primarily analogue practice, using alternative methods for making photographic prints more sustainably. Her current work explores her relationship with the natural environment.
Savannah founded the Photography Ethics Centre in 2017 with the aim of raising awareness about the ethics of photographic practices. She sits on the board of Source Magazine, on the UK committee of the Ethical Journalism Network, on the Rural Deliberative Forum for the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, and on the ethics panel for the Environmental Photographer of the Year Award.
Her work has been exhibited in the USA, the UK, Ireland, and Thailand. Her photobook, Thanks, Gd, was exhibited as part of the Dublin Art Book Fair in 2022. She has received grants and awards locally, nationally, and internationally, including from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, the Ards and North Down Borough Council, the Coward Foundation, and the Rebecca Vassie Trust. She was short-listed for the RHA Clare Island Residency in 2023.
