Jack Barrett is a Screen printer based in Dublin. He works primarily with a technique called CMYK printing, which separates an image into 4 colours and then dot them separately. They can be recombined one at a time, to make the finished piece, Each layer is printed by a hand pulled squeegee.
Jack is looking at the role of AI creation tools in the role of art. His pieces are used with AI tools like Mid journey. With that as a base, he edits the files generated and hand pulls them with screen printing. Jack’s stance with AI creation programs is they are a tool. A tool to use to help with the creation of artwork, and helps bridge the gap for any art you look to make. Like how photography was seen as a threat when first introduced to painters, but is used for documentation and art now. Jack feels this will be the same for AI creation tools.
It is still important to have the hand of the artist involved, this is why jack hand pulls the prints to regain artist control of the final artwork
