Thomas Bachler has been working intensively since the 1980s with the possibilities of the pinhole camera. He used his own mouth as a camera obscura, converted a truck into a moving camera and shot portrait photos in a very real way with the "Photoshooting" campaign.
It is undisputed that he is one of the most versatile artists in this field. In addition to numerous pinhole camera photos, Bachler presents other photographic works from other areas in his new book: photograms of collapsing card houses, recordings with a concave mirror camera and still lifes that were recorded with a huge plate camera are given here as examples. The eleven work areas are clearly presented with texts, sketches and comments. The book thus provides an insight into the world of images that is as interesting as it is entertaining, which has always sprung from a self-made “box”.
