On 30 April 2020, District Magazine, Junior Magazine, and PhotoIreland announced the launch of A New Normal, an open call created in response to an unprecedented event in our life-times: we all became temporarily stuck within our homes and isolated from our friends and family. The many entries received from all over the globe offers us a glimpse into our new normalities, where moments of joy and hope raise beyond the boredom and dread.
The photographers presented are Aisling McCoy, Alexandre Delmar, Andrew Rankin, Billy Woods, Camilla Ferrari, Darragh Kerrigan, Dominic O’Brien, Elise Fisher, Elizabeth Rooney, Emilia Rigaud, Kate Schneider, Kerim Aytac, Kety Duran, Leon Gallagher, Lucy Rehill, Monika Dubinkaite, Myles Shelly, Nestan Abdushelishvili, Niamh Smith, Paddy Kiernan, Róisın White, Tristan Hutchinson, Ugo Woatzi, and Verity Adriana, accompanied with poetry by Malaki.
For those that are not familiar with the project, TLP Editions is an ongoing collection, produced and designed by PhotoIreland, that presents work by contemporary artists in the form of uncomplicated publications. These are available through The Library Project in-store and online. All and any funds generated by the project go to producing more copies of the publications, ensuring we can keep promoting the artists and practices represented. These editions are regularly showcased and donated to international events and festivals, such as the Icelandic Photography Festival recently. In addition, TLP Editions also grace some important shelves and collections, including that of the Hasselblad Foundation Library and the Martin Parr Foundation.
